Katimavik Proud to Recognize Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Support
The impact of Covid-19 has been felt throughout the fabric of Canadian society. Increased isolation, lockdowns, and distancing have separated us from our loved ones, and isolated us in what is, for many, a difficult time. For youth, who’s adolescence is a formative time in development, these societal changes have had a disproportionally high impact. The direct and indirect stresses of the pandemic have, in many cases, created or exacerbated the mental health challenges that are faced in their day-to-day lives.
We therefore are proud to recognize the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support over the past year, helping us provide:
- Mental health support training for our Project Leaders and Project Supervisors,
- Essential PPE materials and an updated participation guide to Katimavik Project Houses located in Ontario, and
- Monitoring and evaluation framework to help identify and implement changes to our mental health support systems
This funding enabled Katimavik to better support youth Participants through these trying times. Katimavik continues to have a need to focus awareness of mental health struggles faced by youth, and needs to evolve to face the ever-changing situations of the current pandemic and post-pandemic landscape. This funding enabled us to continue to be active in the field, supporting other organizations throughout Canada while giving our participants the hands-on support that they deserve.
