Message to Katimavik Participant-Volunteers and parents from
Chief Executive Officer John-Frederick Cameron
March 16, 2020
To members of the Katimavik family,
We are in the midst of a pandemic that has affected every aspect of society. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, Katimavik is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all our Participant-Volunteers and staff.
To ensure their maximum safety, we’ve recently created a Pandemic Preparedness Committee comprised of myself, Director of Finance and Operations Virginie Thibeault, National Experience Program Manager Adim Hébert, and Human Resources Consultant Mary Travaglini. We have created a Pandemic Policy & Procedure plan to be implemented immediately.
Project Leaders in each community have been given detailed instructions regarding COVID-19 preparedness. These include education on COVID-19 and its symptoms, precautions and recommended procedures, and steps to take if a Participant-Volunteer shows symptoms. These include social distancing and self-isolation protocols. In addition, each Project Leader is making contact with their specific provincial health authority in order to be prepared for any immediate course of action required.
Effective immediately, the Rotation is on hold until it has been determined whether it is safe for Participant-Volunteers to travel.
We’re in communication with the Government of Canada and as the situation evolves, so too will our plan. Should any significant changes be made, we will communicate these to you.
All members of our staff and I hold the health and well-being of our Participant-Volunteers as our highest priority.
Stay safe and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Best,
John-Frederick Cameron
