Katimavik on GLOBAL NEWS CALGARY

At a time when COVID-19 has put a halt to so many community programs, some groups are finding ways to carry on through the pandemic. Gil Tucker has more on an effort that still manages to bring young people together, to learn about Canada and to provide help for those in need.

Katimavik launches its National Experience 2021

Today, 66 young Canadians - a new group of Katimavik Participants - start their life-transforming journey. Participants move into Katimavik houses across the country to support local non-profits and ensure help reaches those in need.

The event was held in a safe, socially-distanced manner at Bowen Park’s lower picnic shelter. Katimavik Participants ready to make an impact across Canada

This week, 66 young Canadians will embark on the journey of a lifetime as they begin their Katimavik National Experience. Katimavik, one of Canada’s leading youth empowerment organizations, has been running the National Experience program for the past 43 years, and currently has houses in Nanaimo, British Columbia; Calgary, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Peterborough, Ontario; Quebec City, Quebec; and Moncton, New Brunswick.
