This summer, Cree youth from the Katimavik Indigenous Youth in Transition project joined members of the youth committee from Curve Lake First Nation in Peterborough-Kawartha to talk about what it’s like being an Indigenous youth in Canada right now. The Round Table was convened by Maryam Monsef, MP for Peterborough-Kawartha and Minister of Status of Women.
The discussions were enlightening and mainly focused on the issues of education and mental health. The youth shared their stories, ideas, and recommendations for the government.
