Our Request to the Government of Canada

Empower them through a Youth Climate Corps delivered by Katimavik

For nearly 50 years, Katimavik has proven that, when young Canadians are given the chance to serve, they deliver with purpose, courage, and measurable impact. As Canada launches a national Youth Climate Corps, the fastest, most reliable way to deliver this commitment is to strengthen the national platform that already exists.

Proven Impact

Through Katimavik’s National Experience, participants contribute about 30 hours per week to projects across the country, advancing climate resilience, food security, environmental restoration, and emergency readiness, while gaining job-ready skills.

The results:
• 96% improve leadership skills
• 94% strengthen personal resiliency
• 90% build cross-cultural competence
• 88% improve teamwork
• 84% increase civic engagement

Youth Are Ready

Young Canadians want meaningful climate action, purpose, structure, and tangible work experience.

Katimavik has long championed and advocated for the creation of the Youth Climate Corps, and welcomes federal leadership to make it a reality.

Activating at Scale

Katimavik operates in urban, rural, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Systems are in place:
• Recruitment and screening
• Housing, training, and mentorship
• Program evaluation and accountability
• Partnerships across the country

No new infrastructure is required. Katimavik can launch the Youth Climate Corps now.

A Win for Canada

Delivering through Katimavik means moving quickly, directing resources to youth and communities, and demonstrating decisive climate leadership.

This is more than a youth initiative. It’s a service pathway and a workforce solution.

Canada’s youth are ready to serve.
Katimavik is ready to lead.
