Katimavik - FuturParfait

Our Philosophy : Aware of the challenges of the
21st century

Today’s world has changed considerably over the last few years, and our programs take account of social, economic, technological and environmental developments.

Promoting Employability

At Katimavik, we believe that social action and change start with individual accountability and we know that challenging and valuable work experience enhances employability.

The social and economic context of the 21st century has changed significantly and the information age requires youth to master a set of skills specific to the new 21st century environment in order to succeed on personal, professional and social levels.

Katimavik participants learn and develop the skills needed to be effective workers and collaborators. A major focus is put on learning, literacy and life skills; more concretely: critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, leadership and self determination. The development of theses skills is supported by practices, training, education and development initiated by each participant in a dynamic and ever changing environment.

Learning and Innovation

Developing a set of abilities that prepare participants to be more collaborative, innovative and engaged in active problem solving as well as working in collaboration with their peers.

Information, Media and Technology

The technology driven world in which the young generations are evolving and attempting to find their place while developing their competencies requires abilities to process the abundance of information, to effectively engage with new technologies and to contribute to the production of information in a healthy and balanced way.

Life and Career

The nature of today’s competitive, constantly changing information age requires a skillful management of life and career skills, such as autonomy, collaboration, adaptability, cross-cultural openness and initiative.

Katimavik - Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning

At Katimavik, each participant learns by doing. Our programs offer an immersive experience designed to maximize learning. Every moment counts in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

More Ways to Learn

Learning is experience. Everything else is just information.” – Albert Einstein

Service learning combines volunteer service in the community and structured opportunities for self discovery, reflection, skill acquisition and values such as accountability and civic engagement.

Throughout the program, participants will be exposed to several learning opportunities. They will be brought to reflect on and analyze the impact they have on their host communities, the challenges of living in a group and the professional skills they acquired.

Participants will be supported through the learning process as they take on new challenges, try out new behaviours, learn from their mistakes, make adjustments and try again. The learning process is based on the idea of personal and group accountability.

Learning Through Activities

The model Anticipation – Action – Reflection – Recognition will be the reference framework for learning through direct experience.
