The National Experience: An important update
Dear Katimavik family,
The Government of Canada has recently announced an update about its approach to youth programming funded through the Canada Service Corps (CSC), transitioning from an annual basis to a new multi-year funding agreement for Katimavik’s National Experience program. We are thrilled about this decision, as it allows us to expand and enhance our programming significantly. Thanks to the government’s support, Katimavik can now provide an even more impactful experience for our youth participants, fostering personal growth and community engagement on a broader scale.
This update in funding places the National Experience in a transitional phase as we prepare for the next chapter of the program. Our primary goal is to preserve the essence of this beautiful and empowering program and the value it brings to each participant and the communities they serve. To ensure that all candidates can engage fully in the National Experience, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the January 2024 cohort. Funding from the CSC is scheduled to commence in the early summer of 2024.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this news may cause. Please know that we did not make this decision lightly, and rest assured that while it may appear as a setback, the program will return stronger to offer the best experience to our participants.
We anticipate delivering more news by the summer of 2024 and plan to resume program activities as soon as possible. We eagerly look forward to this time and are committed to providing our future participants with the best possible experience.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this transition period. We look forward to many more years of the National Experience.
Warm regards,
JF (John-Frederick) Cameron
CEO, Katimavik.
