FuturePerfect gives you access to a full-time paid job while helping you build practical skills for your professional future.


Over 14 weeks, you gain real work experience that is recognized by employers.

The program includes:

  • 2 weeks of preparation to build your skills and confidence
  • 12 weeks of full-time paid employment (35-40 hours per week)

Through the program, you:

  • develop skills in demand
  • add strong, hands-on experience to your resume

You can work close to home or discover a new community anywhere in Canada.

Who is the program for?

You may be eligible if you are:

  • between 18 and 30 years old
  • a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or landed refugee
  • legally authorized to work in Canada
  • job seeking or in career transition
  • available full-time for 14 weeks

The program is also open to:

  • youth who are not currently working or studying
  • newcomers to Canada
  • former National Experience participants

Funding and participation costs

Thanks to funding from Employment and Social Development Canada:

Katimavik covers:

  • round-trip travel if relocation is required
  • accommodation
  • a significant portion of your salary
  • a support allowance during the first weeks and training period

You are responsible for:

  • meals during employment
  • daily transportation to your workplace
  • personal expenses

Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone aged 18-30 who is legally authorized to work in Canada and available full-time for 14 weeks.

Yes. Katimavik provides furnished housing, including utilities and internet.

Meals are provided during training. After that, you are responsible for your own meals.

You’ll live in a shared Katimavik house with other participants. Homes are fully furnished and equipped.

You are responsible for your daily transportation. Housing is located close to employers or public transit.

Between 35 and 40 hours per week.

Most positions are in person, depending on employer needs.

You can stay in your current community or choose another city. If you relocate, Katimavik organizes and covers your travel.

With support from your employment coordinator, you apply to available positions and interview following the employer’s hiring process.

Personal belongings, any required medications, your health card, and a government-issued photo ID. Katimavik covers one checked bag.

Yes. You’ll complete approximately two weeks of employability training before starting your job.
